Cut Out Atma by Mac Valdezco
I was incredibly impressed by what Mac Valdezco had to show in this collection. I can't even fathom the amount of time and effort she put into each of these pieces; rolling, dyeing and putting together each roll of cotton tape.
We were lucky enough to chat with her for a bit about her work. She told us about how it all started with collecting scraps of cotton tape from clothing factories and then went on to work on each piece for a minimum of two months straight even with a limited amount of material and workspace. I really appreciated how humble and sincere she was about her achievements which just put so much more value into her pieces.
If you have the time, I definitely encourage you to check out her collection at 20SQUARE, Silver Lens gallery. It's accompanied by the charcoal drawings of Christina Dy which in my opinion, is also a must-see. Go, go, go!
